Instead the man who was responsible for protecting the personal information of Facebook’s more than one billion users from outside attacks went to work for another institution that analyzes large pools of data: the N.S.A..

It combs through your friends to identify which you interact with more than vice versa (“obsessions”), which interact more with you (“stalkers”), and which tag you a lot, spreading your personal information more widely (“liabilities”).
